Prof. Leonardo Rombai, Geographer
Leonardo Rombai, retired tenured professor of Historical Geography at the Department of Historical and Geographical Studies at the University of Florence, is the President of Italia Nostra – Florence Division, Vice President of the Italian Society of Geographic Studies and co-director of the Italian Geographic Magazine. Author of over 300 scientific titles on the history of the cartography and the historical geography of Tuscany, with special attention to landscaping and environmental heritage, he was former director of the Interfaculty Institute of Geography and member of the board of the Department of Historical and Geographic Studies of Florence University. His research interests are focused on landscape, territorial and environmental issues, also in terms of planning policies and the protection of natural and cultural heritage. His scientific and didactic activity is related to the demands of knowledge that arise from society and its based on the cooperation with local authorities, schools and educational institutions, people’s universities, civil society organisations, archives, libraries, academies, environmetal associations and other public and private bodies. Since november 2017 he is a member of the Board of Trustees of AMTO
