Claudia Cancellotti is a Doctor in Research (PhD) in Music Anthropology, aprofessional violin teacher and performer. During her PhD at the University of Bologna she has carried out field research and action/research on contemporary Bushmen musical and ritual practices in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. From 2002 to 2004 she was assistant to the artistic direction of the international world music festival dei Suoni dal Mondo, organized by the University of Bologna. From 2007 to 2011 she worked in Palestine, teaching violin at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music and participating as research and project manager in the UNESCO-led project for the safeguarding of the cultural landscape of Battir, which in 2011 was awarded the Melina Mercouri International Prize. As a freelance consultant, she participated in various international cooperation projects in different countries (South Africa, Palestine, Barbados, Dominica), undertaking activities of research, action/research, training, participated planning and project design and coordination in the fields of development and social anthropology, cultural landscapes, ethnology and ethnomusicology. Currently she teaches violin at the Accademia Musicale Città di Pitigliano and she collaborates with the Research Unit of the International Relation and Cooperation division of the Architecture Department of Florence University as teacher, researcher and project planner in the fields of cultural heritage safeguarding and of local sustainable development. Since 2017 she is Chief Operating Officer and Programme Director, Intangible Heritage/Performing Arts at ARCHI.MEDIA TRUST-ONLUS.
